Dear Ones,

I have been thinking of you. I see your caregiving superpowers. I see you reeling in the unraveling of the health care system.I see you softening the fall of this system with your unique care giving gifts. It breaks my heart open. I am feeling both the struggle and the tender beauty of this moment.

Know that taking opportunities to rest are essential for your resiliency and adaptability to uncertainty. This in-person class is now online (woohoo!!) And also know that you can let this opportunity go, too.

There will be others. There are others. This will be recorded. Take care of you in the ways that feel right.
I have taught Restorative Yoga online many times and can tell you, it works. You have what you need at home. What you will not experience is my hands-on adjustments. What you will likely experience is the power of a community of caregivers showing up to deep rest like never before. And I will be fully present and centered for you.

And now you can share this with others you know who wouldn't have been able to join us in person. Spread the word.

With love & respect,
Lydia

Session Description:

This is a fundraiser for the Alabama Cohosh Collaboration based in Huntsville, Alabama.

ACC Mission:
Quality improvement and reproductive health equity within the state of Alabama.

10% of the proceeds go to ACC y'all give what you can to these heath care workers!

We can all name a caregiver right now deserving of rest & respite. This workshop aims to honor the sacred work of those who care for the most vulnerable beings in our society. Now with the impact of Covid-19, many people are suddenly care givers who were not before or whose responsibilities are now compounded and constant.

Caregivers are friends, parents, relatives, in-laws, spouses and professionals– anyone who provides assistance to another, in whatever capacity and whatever their relationship. Exhaustion, or Caregiver Burnout, is a common experience of those whose lives revolve around the vulnerable needs of another being. Treat yourself or another caregiver you know to some much-needed quiet relaxation! No previous yoga experience needed.

What to expect from this workshop:

1.5 hours of a deeply soothing & inward form of restorative yoga which integrates relaxing poses and some easy meditation to relax the body and mind. The body is placed in gentle postures that are supported with soft bolsters, blocks and blankets while the mind is invited to slow down. Physical tension and energetic knots soften with each pose.

Gentle verbal guidance for breath and mindfulness deepen the relaxation response. Poses include light twists, seated forward folds, and gentle backbends. All postures are enjoyed on the floor.

How to set up at home:

About the instructor:

Lydia Atkins is an alignment & accessible based yoga teacher through Here Now Yoga taught by Rebecca Empello & Kim Drye in Birmingham, AL. Lydia started practicing yoga with elders at a local gym when she was a teenager. She later traveled abroad to live in an intentional community as a caregiver for people with special needs and developed a personal practice to care for herself. This was profound. Her teaching style has developed through her experience supporting differently abled bodies and her foundational belief in the ripple effect of compassion for self and others made possible by slowing down and tending to the whole person.
