Emergent Wild Ground

"Future generations, if there is a livable world for them,
will look back at the epochal transition we are making to a life sustaining society.
And they may well call this the time of the Great Turning.
It is happening now." - Joanna Macy

My loves, I am writing after being largely offline for over a week. I have been following many of your brave & compassionate posts, but unable to respond with my fullest attention. I want to share this personal update and say — I am calm. I am connected to you. I am very present. I am committed to my health. I feel your love and send my light to your homes.

The Bones of the Story:

On March 11th, I went up on the highest point in Alabama, Cheaha Mountain, to teach at the Here Now Yoga Mindfulness Retreat. It was an experience I feel will be in my body and soul memory for a lifetime and a source I will be teaching from from this point onward.

I came home on Monday the 16th and on Tuesday got the news from my mother that her sister was dying in Missouri of rapid declining stage 4 cancer (non-Covid-19 related). My mother planned to leave in 2 hours in hopes to be there for her and her daughter. A very difficult decision for her to make in the wake of Covid-19. No other family lives in the state. My father could not go with her because he is managing the total renovation of their home which was hit by lightening a week before xmas. With the incredible support of my partner and closest soul family, I decided to go with her (leaving the beauty and sense of safety of wild hydrangea -whew) to take the lead in protecting her well-being during travel, etc. As is the theme of these times, we are needing to let go of a lot. My aunt passed away just 2 hours before we arrived. We are here with her daughter. We are doing ok and taking such tender care of each other. We are present to the risks of our situation and are taking the highest precautions to stay healthy and discern our next moves.

The Soul of the Story:

I have been teaching Restorative Yoga and meditation and facilitating the Work That Reconnects for the past 2 + years. I am ready for this uncertainty. I am in the realm of Deep Time with my family — and with the world. A time of death and re-birth. I will be teaching from my experience with my ancestors and teachers at my back and my future decedents guiding my every step. I have been awake to this Great Unraveling for sometime now. My nervous system is regulating the shock and I feel held and soothed by the earth. I am unafraid to touch the dying or the dead or the grief as it fills the room. I am paying attention.

The Present Moment:

My fiercest priority is to return home with my mother ASAP in strong health. She is a Goddess and we are communicating with beautiful compassion for each other. Once we are back safely in Alabama, I will post a registration for regular, online practices to nourish and regulate the nervous system and build resiliency that one can feel and draw from for a lifetime — and, Dear Ones, it will be potent medicine for these times. I hope you’ll join me consistently as needed. I love you.
Please, PLEASE - be vigilant and safe.

The Universe, the Earth, our ancestors and future descendants are speaking mega phone loudly right now. Are you listening? You have ancient ears inside you.

Online Restorative Yoga + Heart Meditation
March 21
7:30pm-9:30pm
(stay tuned for future schedule)

About the session:
This is the time for deep rest and connection to heart.
Restorative yoga is a deeply soothing inward form of yoga where the body is placed in relaxing postures that are supported with soft blankets and firm props -- that one can find at home -- while the mind is invited to slow down. Physical tension and energetic knots soften with each gentle pose.
Find a quiet place in your home and create a spot on the floor the length of your body.
